We can even explore permaculture, which more people will be interested in when all of the water meters are installed in the Sacramento area.

Sacramento Valley has its own unique gardening conditions: hot summers, cold winters (well ... sort of cold). What grows in Maine or Arizona or England, doesn't necessarily grow here. We need to embrace our own piece of earth in order to have gardening success! This group can chat, have garden adventures and share helpful advice with each other. Sound like fun? Let's go! A pretty spot in the backyard of a homeowner featured in the recent Elk Grove Sustainable Garden Tour If you have questions, …

This group is for those who long for a sense of permanence. It is for those who believe in the interconnectedness between culture, community, self, soil and food. If you are a scavenger, a mud builder, a farmer, a guerrilla gardener, an artist, a naturalist, an environmentalis …

My name is Sundown Hazen. I am passionate about growing food and contributing to health and sustainability of his local community. I am using my backyard to grow fruits and vegatables traditionally, raise chickens, and raise fish and produce in an aquaponics system. I am also in the process of starting Pirate Produce, a business providing consulting services to home owners and small community groups and schools in sustainable food production. This group is a way for me to share my experiences an …
We are all descendants of farmers who worked their available land to produce the most nutritious food needed for health and survival. Today we are technically evolved yet disconnected from the farming process. As a result our food supply has been jeopardized by a large centralized system that we are paying for with higher food costs, lower nutritional value and poorer overall health. It is now time to seek the knowledge of our farming ancestors by taking a different look at how our communitie …
